Salford City Academy can provide a wealth of information and support for students on the options choices available and the core subjects to be taken in Year 10 from September 2015.
It is very important that students, alongside parents and carers, read all the information provided carefully and discuss the options available.
All pupils will be required to study English Language, English Literature, Mathematics, Science, ICT, Citizenship and Physical Education. The general purpose of the subject pattern is to provide equality of opportunity and at the same time give a broad and balanced education.
A good general education is important whichever career a young person proposes to follow.
The Academy will continue to deliver the statutory requirement for Religious Education, Collective Worship and Personal, Social and Health Education (PSHE) all of which cover a wide range of ideas and emphasise the spiritual and moral dimension of life.
Careers education and guidance along with enterprise will be taught via mentor time, careers interviews, by our partnership with Connexions, work experience and a variety of other events.
To help our students through this process, they will have access to a range of IAG (independent advice and guidance) ranging from assemblies, Connexions meetings, Options Taster sessions, and a Parents Information/Parents Evening.
All pupils will have one-to-one meetings with either a member of the Senior Leadership Team (SLT) their Head of Year or their Inclusion Manager in order to assist them in making appropriate choices. Parents/carers may attend this meeting.
