First Class Honours for Ex-Student

Highest honours at university for David Massey

David Massey, former student of Salford City Academy has been awarded a first class honours degree in Wildlife Conservation (Primatology*) from the University of Salford and received the highest mark on his course!

David studied English Language and Literature, Geography and Sociology at the Eccles Centre and was also was a DCET (Dick Camplin Educational Trust) Scholar. The Dick Camplin Trust has been working with Salford City College for a number of years generously providing scholarships to academically talented students wishing to progress to university but in need of financial support. However, money is a small part of what the scholars receive and the trust goes beyond this as they continue to work with the students when they are at university, whether that be providing support, mentoring or finding work placement opportunities. As well as winning the Dick Camplin Award, David was also awarded with a further £500 due to his achievements.

David said, “The support from the Dick Camplin Trust has never stopped and I am now being introduced to a life coach who will be able to boost my confidence which I hope will help me network with people who could support me getting into the competitive area of primatology”.

Later this month, David is returning to university to do his master’s degree and would like to do consultancy as a career. We wish him all the luck in the future!
