Handwriting Champions

Our Year 11s are once again supporting our Handwriting Champions peer mentoring scheme, working alongside select students in Years 7 to 10.

The 10 week scheme aims to help our students further improve their handwriting skills.

During mentor time, our Year 11s are working one-on-one with their peers on work which begins with letter and word writing, before moving on to sentence practise.

To then demonstrate improved handwriting skills, students copy poetry and write a piece about themselves.

Mrs Rowan, HLTA/Literacy said: “The scheme has had a fantastic impact on the handwriting of the students involved. The students on the scheme react well when working one-to-one with our Year 11 volunteers.”

One Year 7 student said: “My helper tells me to stop rushing and to calmly write and helps make my handwriting neater.”
