BTEC Music students learn from industry expert

Our Year 11 BTEC Music students welcomed Rob Kidd, a Sound Engineer from Hammer and Spark, for a session on sound recording.

Rob started on the basics from gathering cables to setting up recording equipment, such as microphones.

He then took our students into the academy’s sound studio and demonstrated how to set up to record live music and then discussed the technical operations in the control room.

Rob also talked about working in the music industry and gave examples of the responsibilities of a sound technician in a music session.

Miss Landon said:

“This was a great opportunity for our students to get to grips with the academy sound studio and to hear from an industry expert!”
