Year 11 Test Drive a New Career

Students visit Trafford College's Motor Vehicle department

Salford City Academy organised a trip for Year 11 students interested in motor vehicle maintenance and repair, paint spraying, and engine technology on Monday 8th February.

The group of students visited Trafford College for a careers event where they toured the on-site workshop and discussed the various courses on offer.

Whilst in the body shop, students viewed a demonstration of how colours are mixed and cars are spray painted.

They then moved onto to the STEM classroom to examine an exposed engine and clutch and watched maintenance work.

Amy Barlow, Head of Careers, said:

“It was an interesting and valuable day for our students to see what was on offer in terms of training programmes in the sector; we talked about entry levels, as well as maths and English requirements, so our students have all the information they need.”

Trafford College has an Open Event on Thursday 3rd March at 5pm till 8pm.
