A Cut Above

Year 12 student donates her hair to charity!

On Thursday 11th June, Sixth Form student Amber Wilson was inspired to cut off her hair for a children’s wig-making charity.

Calling on VTCT Hair L2 student Chelsea Mcconnell, Amber took a seat in the Sixth Form’s in-house salon to have more than 20 inches of hair snipped!

Amber said: “I’ve been thinking about cutting my hair since I joined high school but it was my mum that suggested I donate it to the children’s charity more recently.”

Tutor Nigel Garrett said:

“Amber was a fantastic client; she was very calm and put her complete trust in Chelsea.”

Commenting on Chelsea’s hairdressing challenge, Nigel added:

“Chelsea was really focussed and saw where her end destination was.  As a tutor, I would be more than happy to employ her as a graduate stylist given her strong skill base.”

The hair will now be sent off to the charity who create wigs for children fighting cancer.
