Year 5 pupils visit the academy for taster days
On the 25th and 26th June, children from Salford City Academy’s 7 feeder schools visited for taster days.
Year 5 primary children from St Andrew’s, Christ Church, Lewis Street, Beech Street, Barton Moss, Godfrey Ermen and Westwood Park experienced a variety of lessons from across the curriculum and sporting activities during their time at the academy.
First pupils took part in fun and interactive taster sessions in Art, Science, Music and MFL. They then ate a tasty lunch in the academy’s canteen before enjoying some social time outside.
Finally, the days culminated in school teams competing in sports ranging from a 100m running event to sport charades!
The winners of both days were Westwood Park and then Christchurch. Each school were presented with a trophy as a memento of the day.
Rachel Lyons, Transition Coordinator said:
“The aim of these taster days is for the children to gain experience of Academy life and to meet their peers and academy staff. They are a key feature of the transition process to ensure pupils feel as comfortable and confident as possible as they start to consider the move to secondary school.”
