Salford City Academy’s annual Achievement Awards Day took place today
Salford City Academy’s annual Achievement Awards Day took place on the 16th July 2015 to celebrate academic excellence with students and parents.
Students spoke to celebrate a year of sports, academic and extracurricular activities and introduced photos from the past 12 months. Thanks to Head Prefects Charlotte Mechan and Mo Abu Dakka, followed by Year 7s Morgan Burtlewhistle-Smith, Caya Hughes and Brandon Davidson.
There were also several musical performances. Congratulations to:
- Lauren Bull and Dominic Smith who sang ‘Breaking Free’ from High School Musical
- Abi Whitmore and Charlotte Mechan who sang ‘The Climb’ by Miley Cyrus
- Ben Robinson who played a trombone piece ‘Flapjack’
- Lucie Welby and Karina Lockett who sang ‘Thinking Out Loud’ by Ed Sheeran
Students were then presented with subject and overall awards. Achievement was celebrated not for the best in the year but for those students who have made the most personal progress.
Principal Helen Mackenzie OBE said:
“I’m so proud of the students at Salford City Academy; they deserve every credit and praise they receive today.
“A huge thanks goes to all the hard work by students, staff and parents. We’ve achieved so much this year and we are going to be a ‘good’ school. Together we are really going places!”
