Former Salford City Academy student lands apprenticeship with local media agency
Former Salford City Academy student Aimee Cheetham is hoping to make her mark in the world of social media and digital marketing after securing an apprenticeship with the Trafford based One Agency.
After successfully completing her GCSEs at Salford City Academy in 2009, Aimee achieved an Extended Diploma in Media and Key Skills in Communication at Pendleton Sixth Form, before moving into employment.
Now the 22 year-old from Eccles is a step closer to her dream of becoming a graphic designer, thanks to gaining a Creative Pioneers™ apprenticeship with the One Agency, where she is working full-time, as well as completing a combination of coursework and assessments for learning provider The White Room, who are co-ordinating the scheme.
Commenting on her apprenticeship, Aimee said:
“I’ve always looked for creative-based work, particularly in graphic design. I was drawn to the apprenticeship as it has an aspect of learning, whilst also offering full-time employment and will help to give me an invaluable introduction into the marketing industry. There's also the possibility that I may be offered a full-time role at the end of the apprenticeship which would be fantastic."
Since joining the team, Aimee has worked across several client projects including web design, artwork spec, graphic design and animation. The One Agency's Sales Director Lisa Byrne has been impressed by Aimee’s creativity and work ethic, commenting:
“Aimee impressed us in her interview with her creativity, incredible attention to detail and her passion for her work–- she was head and shoulders above the other candidates! Aimee’s proactive and ‘can do’ attitude has been admirable and she brings positivity and fresh ideas to her desk every day. We are delighted to have Aimee on the team and look forward to how she can develop both personally and within her role here with us at One Agency.”
Helen Mackenzie OBE, Principal at Salford City Academy, added:
“We're delighted to hear about Aimee’s success since leaving the academy. Apprenticeships offer a fantastic alternative for young people to gain a qualification and valuable experience in the world of work and we have a number of students who are hoping to follow in Aimee's footsteps by taking up an apprenticeship. We look forward to hearing more from Aimee in the future.”
