Ms Melanie Haselden
We informed parents and carers in December 2016 that we would be seeking to find an excellent permanent successor to Mrs Mackenzie. We are very pleased, therefore, to inform you that we have appointed Ms Melanie Haselden as Principal of the academy. She will take up her post after Easter.
Originally from Greater Manchester, Ms Haselden is a highly experienced leader who has worked in schools and local authorities across the country. Beginning her career as a chemistry teacher, she was appointed the lead teacher of Science for the Oldham Local Authority in 2003. She joins us from Poltair School in Cornwall where she is currently Deputy Head. She is a qualitied Senior Leader in Education and graduated from Loughborough University with a degrees in Medicinal and Pharmaceutical Chemistry.
We know that Ms Haselden is looking forward to moving back up to the North West and to joining the academy as it continues to build on the progress already underway this year. Over the next half term, she will be working with the leadership team to begin planning for the summer term and year ahead.
