Careers advice for Year 11 students
On Tuesday 8th December, Year 11 students took part in an apprenticeship workshop delivered by Positive Steps, a careers service provider.
All students who participated had expressed an interest in apprenticeships as an option for further education.
The workshop was an introduction to apprenticeships and the various levels available. All students established an account on the www.apprenticeships.gov.uk website and browsed opportunities available in the local area.
Year 11 student Callan has already been successful in securing an apprenticeship following his work experience last year. Fellow student Kane is researching Admin and Business apprenticeship opportunities as well as college courses.
Amy Barlow, Head of Careers, said:
“Apprenticeships offer an alternative opportunity to gain a qualification whilst young people are introduced to the world of work. They are also good if you want to learn a particular trade.”
