New Year 7 active scheme
Year 7 students collected their ‘Beat the Street’ cards last week when a new active scheme was launched at Salford City Academy.
Beat the Street has turned Salford into a real life walking and cycling game!
The objectives of the scheme are:
- To increase physical activity levels
- To decrease health inequalities
- To support sustainable travel
- To increase community cohesion
Beat the Street is a game for the whole community – all children have to do is walk or cycle and tap two or more Beat the Street boxes with their special cards to get points!
The aim is so get as many points for Salford City Academy to receive sporting equipment and improve sports facilities. There are also on the spot prizes of signed Olympic memorabilia and other cool things!
How To Play
- Use Beat the Street cards
- Tap your card against a Beat Box on lampposts in your town as you journey round the area
- Collect points as you tap between Beat Boxes!
