Premier League Football partners LLS have teamed up with Salford City Academy to create the next generation of football coaches.
This unique coaching education programme has been successfully operating in the North West since 2009 and following its recent success in Wales and Ireland, the scheme will be introduced at Salford City Academy from September 2015.
Open to males and females aged 16 -19, the course aims to raise aspirations of young people with a passion for sport and provide them with an opportunity to study full time. Those taking part in the scheme will also benefit from work experience across 10 local primary schools and football events, under the supervision of qualified teaching and sports coaching specialists.
Whilst achieving a combination of Level 2 and 3 vocational sports coaching qualifications, students will also have the opportunity to access a range of Level 1 and 2 National Governing Body Awards such as the FA Level 1 in Coaching Football.
LLS’s Head of Marketing Marc Garnett commented: “Using the power of sport, our aim is to create the next generation of positive role models and leaders in the community. Successful applicants will be given regular access to professionals from the world of elite sport which will inspire and raise their future aspirations.”
During the two year programme, students will visit some of England’s top football academies, coach internationally in Finland and have access to a study visit in either Europe, North America, South America, Africa, Asia or Australia.
Added Marc: “For a number of years, course graduates have been gaining full time employment within the sports industry in the UK, USA and Canada. By 2017, we hope to have created 30+ qualified coaches in Salford who will have gained the qualifications and experience to access further pathways such as university and apprenticeships in local schools, as well as life changing employment opportunities around the world.”
Commenting on the scheme, Salford City Academy Head of Sixth Form, Jon Davies said: “This exciting new partnership will provide a unique experience for local students to engage in an innovative coaching programme. It offers real opportunities for those taking part to coach football and equips them with the skills to succeed in a competitive industry.”
With a limit of just 16 places available in Salford this September, students who are passionate about gaining a future career within the sports industry are encouraged to contact LLS to apply for an interview by visiting: www.llsonline.uk.Videos and images are available on social media timelines @LLSonline
