Primary schools in Salford joined together with Salford City Academy for the annual Salford Schools Christmas Carol Concert on Tuesday 10th December.
Pupils from Lewis Street, Beech Street, Westwood Park, Barton Moss, St. Andrews, Christ Church and Godfrey Ermen Memorial Primary Schools performed and gave readings during the service at St Andrew’s Church in Eccles. There were vocal performances from Salford City Academy students, and staff and pupils from all eight schools performed a carol together to close the service.
Rachel Lyons, Transition Co-ordinator at Salford City Academy, said: “It was wonderful to come together with our local primary schools to celebrate Christmas. All the students were fantastic and represented their schools brilliantly. Thank you to the staff from all the schools involved, and to Reverend Anne-Louise Critchlow for the use of St. Andrew’s Church and her contribution to the service.”
Refreshments were also made and served by members of community groups which run at Salford City Academy, including older members of the community and those with learning difficulties.
Julie Larkinson, Community Partnerships Co-ordinator at the academy said:
“There was a real sense of community at the carol concert and it was wonderful to see students, parents, teachers and members of the wider community joining together to share in the celebration of Christmas.”
