A workshop to boost Year 7 and 8 students' body confidence took place today at Salford City Academy.
Salford City Academy was pleased to welcome two representatives from Dove, the personal care products company, into school to host self-esteem workshops with our Year 7 and 8 students.
Linked to our PSHE and SMSC provision, the Dove Self Esteem Project workshop asked students to look at issues that affect self-esteem. Open discussions took place regarding body confidence and the impact and consequences of media, celebrity culture and peer pressure on students.
Students watched an interesting video which highlighted how everyone wants to look more like someone else!
Nick South from Dove said:
“We want students to know that one day they will realise that the things that make them unique will set them apart and make them special.”
To boost our students’ self-confidence, they were asked to complete a booklet which they were able to take home.
At the end of the session, the challenge for students was to become a ‘Champion for Change’ and to make a promise to themselves to change their way of thinking and to make themselves, or someone else, feel better.
