Red Cross deliver life-saving skills session
We welcomed the Red Cross in today to deliver first aid training to a group of Year 10 and 11s.
The first aid training aimed to help our young people learn simple first aid skills and equip them with the confidence and willingness to act in a first aid emergency.
The session was offered as an opportunity for students who had expressed an interest in careers in the medical profession.
Hannah Signy from the Red Cross took the students through every day first aid techniques as well as challenging them with emergency situations and teaching them how to respond.
Students learnt all about, for example, the recovery position, treatment of cuts and burns, administering CPR and use of a defibrillator.
Sophie, Year 10, said:
“I’d like to become a nurse. I enjoyed learning first aid, especially the CPR. I now feel more confident about handling situations where people need help.”
