On 12th February, Salford City Academy Sports Leaders officiated the Level 2 Salford School Games Swimming Gala.
The group of 11 leaders were trained to use stopwatches to record precise race times before officiating the competition.
Ben Robinson, Year 9 student, said:
“We learned to be as accurate as possible with the stopwatches. We will be officiating the Winter Games so taking part in this gala has helped us feel confident about our role there.”
The students were a credit to the Academy and were extremely polite and helpful at all times, and showed excellent leadership qualities.
Well done to those who took part: Mersedeh Bashiri, Mo Abu Dakka, Yvan Gisingizo, Emily Richards (all Year 10), Ben Robinson, Alex Clarke, Lewis Dowling, Charlie Rushworth, Connie Boardman, Alethea Biesty and Caitlin Thompson (all Year 9).
The gala, held at Fit City Eccles, was won by Moorside High School, who will now represent Salford at the Greater Manchester Winter Games in March.
