Gateways at Manchester University

Year 7 students begin a university pathways programme

A group of highly able Year 7 students were invited to begin the Gateways project at Manchester University.

The project aims to introduce students to university life and they will visit the Manchester establishment on an annual basis.

The first trip on 10th May was a familiarisation visit and students began a work booklet which they will add to each year.

The day also included team building and problem solving exercises, with students working with others from four different schools.  There was also a marketing task, with students chocolate-tasting and then looking at how marketers entice consumers to buy their products.

University undergraduates were on hand throughout the day and our inquisitive students had lots of questions about university life and courses.  Students finished the day with a tour of the university and library.

Well done to Madison Baker, Reece Birkett, Dominic Green, Danielle McGrath, Holly Randles, Charlie Ridgway, Kyle Thomas, Victor Tunde-Olaitan, Megan Vasey, Leah Warburton, Amber Warren and Jodie Woodhams.
