We would like to extend our sincere thanks and gratitude to John Lewis and the Rotary Club of Eccles, who have donated generous amounts of money to support some of our Community Partnership Projects here at Salford City Academy.
"Supporting Independent Living" is a community group which runs at the academy and aims to help people with learning disabilities in the local area. Those taking part are involved in growing their own fruit and vegetables, cooking, eating and socialising, while the existence of the group helps its members to increase their independence, wellbeing and confidence.
"Supporting Independent Living" is an expansion of a community scheme which has been running at the academy for two years. "Cooking for Health and More" is an Over 60s group for socially isolated members of the Peel Green community. Both groups will now be able to benefit from the money donated from John Lewis and the Rotary Club of Eccles.
The money has been put towards the purchase of cooking equipment and ingredients required for the community initiatives.
Mrs Larkinson, Community Partnership Co-ordinator, who organises and runs the sessions, said:
"I would like to extend my warmest thanks to both John Lewis and the Rotary Club of Eccles. Their kind donations allow us to continue these fantastic and important projects, which enable us to build an intergenerational relationship between the academy and the local community."
