Grades On The Up As SCA Celebrates GCSE Results Day

Students and staff at Salford City Academy are celebrating today after receiving their GCSE results which saw good improvements on all measures.
53% of students achieved a 4 or above in both English and Maths – up from 49% last year. The academy is equally delighted with a strong improvement in the number of students gaining five or more in these subjects – 29% compared to 22% in 2018.
Overall, 48% of students achieved five or more good GCSEs including English and maths – up from 46% last year.
There were also a number of excellent individual successes including:
· Brandon Davidson who achieved nine GCSEs at grade 9 and one at grade 7;
· Jonathon Verity-Stowell who achieved four GCSEs at grade 9, four at grade 8 and two at grade 7;
· Hasna Abdo who achieved two GCSEs at grade 9, three at grade 8 and two at grade 7;
· Lola Ajele who achieved one GCSE at grade 9, one at grade 8 and three at grade 7.
Ester Boli, who made the most progress from Year 7 and had 100% attendance in each of her five years at the academy, achieved eight GCSEs at grade 5+.
Mrs Haselden, Principal of Salford City Academy, said: “We are very pleased with these results which are a good improvement on those achieved last year. The students celebrating today have worked hard all year and I am proud of each and every one of them. They are a credit to Salford City Academy and I wish them well as they embark on the next stage of their education.
“Thank you to our brilliant teachers who always go the extra mile for our students and give them the support they need to achieve their best.”
