On 26th June, some of our Year 9 students attended the High Flyers Careers Event at Manchester Airport's Concorde Hangar.
Students had the opportunity to devise a new product to sell in the duty free section in order to profit from travellers who were delayed at the airport. They also met the airport’s Fire Department and were challenged to change into full fire uniform in less than 60 seconds and role play with some of the equipment.
Students also learnt about the airport’s security systems, the design of the runway and terminals and the complex airport car parking system.
Mohammed Abu-Dakka and Kane Whitehouse also presented an environmental press conference regarding an ‘acid spill’ at the airport. The boys were awarded a medal and a Topman voucher each for their effort and input during the day.
Miss Barlow, who organised the trip, said:
“The High Flyers event was a great way for students to gain insight into their personal talents and abilities and open their eyes as to the careers an airport can offer.”
