Sixth Form students visited Liverpool John Moores University on Wednesday 1st April to learn more about life in further education.
Students met the university’s Admissions Officer who gave students a fantastic overview of what universities are looking for in an application. They emphasised the importance of selling themselves and detailing all work experience and extra-curricular activities.
Amy Barlow, Key Stage 5 Manager said:
“This was a particularly interesting session as it supported all the work our students have been doing through-out their enrichment sessions. The next step for them is course research and drafting their personal statements.”
Student Ambassadors accompanied our Sixth Formers on a tour of the university, before giving a session on life at university and the pros and cons of living at home or away.
Students were also invited to join the universities Summer Residential which gives them an opportunity to stay overnight and try out some course taster sessions.
Amy Barlow added:
“These residential are fairly new but a fantastic and free way for students to find out what university life is really like.”
