Literacy Intervention Programme with University Students

We are pleased to welcome another cohort of Manchester Metropolitan University students to work with Year 7s.

The cohort of trainee teachers are involved in an ‘Intervention for Literacy’ programme aimed at helping to improve the reading abilities of students.

The students will be working with Year 7 pupils on a one-on-one basis for an hour a week until Christmas, starting with a full day of shadowing.  This will give the university students an idea of how their assigned pupils cope with their curriculum.

Last year, the same programme had a positive impact on the Year 7 pupils involved. On average, students made 16.5 months reading progress between September and December 2013.
