Yesterday we had a guest appearance from Finnley Tapp who won ITV2's Hit Reality Show, Love Island. What does this have to do with the Academy I hear you ask? Prior to appearing on the show, Finn was a semi-professional football player for non- league club Oxford City, having previously played as a professional for Milton Keynes Dons. Finn visited the academy for the day to work with a group of our students for a game of football and give his real life experiences with what he has had to overcome since moving into the celebrity lifestyle. This was brilliant for our students to hear and they thoroughly enjoyed the day.
The visit was coordinated with Football Beyond Borders, It is a great privilege to be in a position to welcome back Football Beyond Borders for a third year running to work with us at Salford City Academy! FBB are a charity that work young people from disadvantaged backgrounds who are passionate about football.
We at the academy have been most impressed with FBB with their professionalism and inclusivity with our students.
This year FBB will be working with a group of year 8 students for this academic year supporting them with their studies and helping to build their leadership skills.
