Years 11,12 and 13 focus on Careers
On Tuesday 17th November, in partnership with Connexions, Salford City Academy focused our Year 11, 12 and 13 students on their careers with a 20 minute mock interview.
In preparation for future pathways, including college, apprenticeships, university or employment, outside volunteers joined the academy to deliver ‘real world’ style interviews.
Students were asked to prepare for the interviews by reviewing sample interview questions and completing an application form to bring with them.
As well as interviewing the students, the business volunteers delivered advice on the purpose of interviews, how to answer questions effectively and how to sell themselves to succeed in interviews.
Representatives from a range of local businesses, colleges and training providers attended, including: Tesco, Greater Manchester Police, Manchester College, LLS, Arnold Clark, NLTG, The Skills Company and Salford City College.
Gail Burgess, Head of HR for Greater Manchester Police, said:
“It was a fantastic day of interviews; there were 4 or 5 students who I interviewed who were really focused and who I would offer employment to based on their sessions.”
