Scheme underway in partnership with PZ Cussons
Since July 2015, Salford City Academy’s business link PZ Cussons have been working with a group of students on the Mosaic Mentoring project.
The project aims to raise aspirations of the students involved for academy life and beyond.
Working in partnership with academy staff, the PZ Cussons professionals have been focusing on tasks to help the students make links with what they’re doing now and where they want to be in the future. They are also developing their understanding of the world of work.
The 30 students from Years 8, 9 and 10 are also undertaking tasks to build their confidence and self-esteem, for example, public speaking and presentation skills.
Split into groups of between 3 and 5, each have been assigned two PZ Cussons business mentors who have been working closely with the students.
The Mosaic Mentoring project will culminate in the students visiting PZ Cussons’ offices to deliver a final presentation to the professionals and their peers.
Omar Ali, Year 9, said:
“It’s been great working with the business mentors; they’ve been very friendly and helpful and I’ve been finding out what I’m really good at. I’ve enjoyed working together in teams on presentation skills and I’ve been building my confidence. It’s made me think about working in business in the future.”
