We have launched a charity appeal this week at the Academy.
We have launched Operation Christmas Child this week at the Academy asking students and staff to donate shoeboxes filled with gifts for needy children worldwide.
In 2012, we sent 70 shoeboxes to charity Samaritan’s Purse who organise the project.
Miss Collins, R.E. Teacher, is coordinating donations at the Academy and has set a whole school challenge for mentor groups to collect and fill as many shoeboxes as possible to change Christmas for children less fortunate then themselves this year.
Ideas for shoeboxes:
• Toys: Bear, soft toy, tennis ball, finger puppet, jigsaw, yo-yo, building blocks, small musical instrument.
o For boys; trucks and cars, for girls; dolls, clip on earrings, etc.
• Educational Supplies: Felt pens, pens, pencils, pencil sharpener, eraser, colouring book, notepad, picture or puzzle book, chalk, pencil case, stickers, etc.
• Hygiene Items: Toothbrush, toothpaste, hairbrush, comb, hair clips, bar of soap, flannel, etc.
Miss Collins said:
“As a school, our aim is to make this the biggest and most successful shoe box appeal we have done to date. SCA needs your help! Your shoebox could make such a difference to the lives of children around the world.”
Our deadline is 21 November. Good luck and thanks in advance for your support!
