Greater Manchester Police visit Salford City Academy
We held our annual Prison and Police Service Day on Friday 6th May for Years 7 and 8, led by Paul McGovern MBE from the HM Prison Service and a team from the Greater Manchester Police (GMP).
The day featured a range of activities and workshops and a guest appearance from local Police dogs.
Academy teachers faced ‘pressure’ tests as well as simple challenges with their vision impaired. These were to illustrate the impact of stress and the effects of drugs and alcohol.
Students also heard about issues around knife crime, as well as alcohol and drug abuse.
Alex Williams, Year 7, said:
“The day raised awareness of the consequences of knife crime and drugs.”
Eloise Hughes, also Year 7, said:
“We learnt ‘don’t get involved in crime’ and how crime affects young people and their families.”
