Year 7 Peer Mentors visit local primary pupils
Our fantastic Year 7 Peer Mentors have been busy helping their former primary schools’ pupils as they prepare to make the move from primary to secondary.
For each of our feeder primary schools, there are two former pupils acting as their peer mentors.
As well as helping at the academy’s Stepping Stones days, which introduces pupils to the academy, our Peer Mentors have also been visiting all the academy feeder schools to answer about joining high school.
Each set of Year 6 pupils have also been playing our special academy ‘Monopoly’ game which helps pupils learn more about uniform, travel, school equipment and staff.
Pagan Jones, Transition Mentor, said:
“Our Peer Mentors are familiar faces for our new pupils and have been responding really well to all the questions. The Year 6s have enjoyed talking to them about life at the academy and it really helps to ease any worries or concerns about the transition to high school.”
