Mock interviews for Year 11 students
On Tuesday 22nd November, Year 11 students faced 20 minute mock interviews with a range of business professionals.
In preparation for college interviews in the coming months, the academy organised the session to offer our students an opportunity to gain experience in an interview situation.
Representatives from a range of local businesses, colleges and training providers attended, including: Tesco, the Army, Greater Manchester Police, Stockport College, Kelloggs, Dock 10, Edge Hill University, Michael John Hairdressing Training, Manchester College and Salford City College.
Amy Barlow, Head of Careers, said:
“We were so grateful to the volunteers who joined us to conduct mock interviews and offer our students an invaluable experience.”
All students received verbal and written feedback on their appearance and first impression, including their handshake, as well as eye contact, body language and attitude.
Amy added:
“All the feedback received will enable our students to recognise their strengths and possible areas to improve on.”
Over a quarter of students were highlighted as ‘outstanding’ in their interviews, for example:
Keira Sands – Excellent interview preparation and knowledge about her preferred career path of teaching.
James Landregan – Very open and honest in his interview and asked lots of excellent questions about the interviewer’s industry.
Bradley Kempshall – Bradley presented himself really well in his interview; he was very confident and friendly, as well as extremely positive.
Well done to all!
