A Year 8 student has applied and been accepted onto the School Games Talent Inspiration Programme (TIP).
Rebecca Doyle, Year 8, has been successful in her application to attend the Talent Inspiration Programme (TIP) at the Level 4 School Games in September 2015.
Running from the 2nd - 4th September 2015 in Manchester, the TIP will bring together 200 young aspiring athletes and 75 team managers from across the country to participate in a three-day residential learning experience.
Rebecca will attend workshops, practical sessions and will have the opportunity to experience what it is like to be an athlete or team manager at a top event.
All activities are designed to engage and inspire young people and encourage them to start thinking about how they can reach their sporting potential and the impact that will have on their development as a young person.
There will also be an opportunity to meet and work with sports personalities such as swimmer Ellie Simmonds and athlete Dina Asher-Smith.
Lyndsey Nolan, School Games Coordinator at Salford City Academy said:
“I nominated Rebecca Doyle for the programme as she demonstrates all of the pre-requisites with exception. Rebecca is a hard working young lady who has potential across the sports that she competes in, particularly volleyball in which she has a vested interest, and she also helps the PE department with her leadership skills with both her peers and younger children in transition events. I know that Rebecca will thrive in this opportunity.”
