Academy takes part in a new sporting event
Salford City Academy was invited to take part in an Inclusive Indoor Rowing event at Oakwood Academy on 14th December.
The competition gave academy students a chance to participate in a new sporting event.
Each student completed either a 400 or 500m rowing race, depending on their age group, against children from seven other Greater Manchester schools.
Special commendation goes to:
· Erin Welsh who won her group race and then went on to be placed 4th overall (in her age group)
· Matthew Griffin who received a special achievement award for effort and determination throughout his race.
Lyndsey Nolan, Extended Schools Co-ordinator, said:
“Our students absolutely loved taking part. For many it was their first opportunity to compete in a sporting event. They all did amazingly well and we look forward to being a part of more inclusive events in the future.”
