Salford City Academy Achieves Silver Award

SCA are proud to have been accredited with a Silver Award. SMSC stands for spiritual, moral, social and cultural development. All schools in England must show how well their students develop in SMSC.

We are absolutely delighted to announce that in December 2021, the Academy was awarded silver for The National SMSC Quality Mark in recognition of our provision for students’ spiritual, moral, social, and cultural development. The award was externally assessed by an independent assessor from the SMSC quality mark who spent the day with Governors, Leaders, Teachers, Students and Parents. Governors, parents, students, and staff were interviewed through the process and spoke extremely positively about the academy and the exceptional offer we have for students around SMSC.

Examples from the report of the academy's strengths included:

  • Relationships between staff and students are overwhelmingly positive. The students appreciate the range of opportunities that are on offer.
  • Students are treated as individuals. Personalised programmes ensure inclusivity.
  • A wide range of leadership opportunities is offered to students through the Aspire Programme, Prefects, and Student Councils.

 Our external assessor reported back:

‘Salford City Academy is obviously a place where individuality is nurtured and respected.’

‘It was a privilege to speak with some of the students. Rezwan told me that Salford City Academy, ‘…brings out the best in everyone.’ Callum explained, ‘The school teaches you to be a leader not a follower.’’

‘Parents, who gave of their time to describe how their families have been supported over many years by the school, not least during the recent national lockdowns. ‘Nothing was too much trouble.’ ‘The interaction with school was lifesaving.’ ‘The school isn’t just a place to learn; it’s more than academic skills.’’

We would like to thank all the students, parents, staff, and governors who were involved in preparing for the day and for all the work that the team have done in the background to ensure that the provision at the academy is of the highest quality. We will be going for gold next!
