Salford City Academy students have been left buzzing after their dodgeball team received a special gift from local dodgeball club the Manchester Bees.
The Bees have kindly donated their old equipment to the academy after hearing about students’ passion for the sport.
Held as an after-school club over the last five years, dodgeball has become increasingly popular at the Peel Green school – boasting around 40 members who meet on a weekly basis. Recently, Salford City Academy has represented Salford at the Greater Manchester School Games in the discipline.
Manchester Bees have also ran several coaching sessions with the young enthusiasts.
Science Teacher Ms Vickers, who runs Dodgeball Club, said: “We are so grateful to the Manchester Bees for this kind gesture and supporting our dodgeball team. It is great to see how much our students enjoy it, while getting the opportunity to develop sportsmanship and teamwork skills along the way.
“We certainly plan to put the equipment to good use and have high hopes for the team at the next School Games tournament!”
