On the last day of the Autumn term, students and staff were treated to “Salford City Academy X Factor”, a show made up of student and staff performing Christmas-themed acts.
Mr Healey and Mr Mokhtar hosted the show, introducing the acts and treating the audience to some excellent Christmas cracker jokes. All performances were of an extremely high standard; the students who performed were Abby Higson, Lauren Bithell, Keena Robson, Leona Allert, Jasmine Little, Charlie Mechan, Chloe Smith and Abi Whitmore, as well as the school choir.
Between the student acts, the audience were treated to a number of staff performances. Miss Kelleher and Miss Collins donned Christmas tree costumes for their rendition of “Rocking Around the Christmas Tree” while the Spice Boys’ (Mr Penney, Mr Devonport, Mr Hadcroft and Mr Jones) wigs and outfits were a hit with the audience. Mr Fair and Miss Mannion did an excellent performance of “Fairytale of New York” with a star appearance from our Police Community Support Officer, and Executive Principal Mr Yates closed the show with a rousing chorus of “Merry Christmas Everyone” supported by the choir.
The Head Prefects acted as judges throughout the show, but the final winners was down to an audience vote using coloured cards. Abi Whitmore was crowned the winner of the Student X Factor, while the Spice Boys took the prize for the staff.
SCA X Factor was a brilliant way to end a successful term at Salford City Academy and showcase some of the amazing talent of our students and staff. Well done to all those who took part.
