Celebrations are underway at Salford City Academy, with students receiving their results today.
43% of Year 11 students have achieved five or more GCSEs at grades A* to C including English and maths.
Principal of Salford City Academy, Helen Mackenzie, said:
“Once again the hard work of our students and staff has produced another strong set of GCSE results, which consolidate the progress the academy has made over the last few years. I would like to congratulate all our students on their achievements today.”
Among those students celebrating their successes were:
- Ellis Birch, who achieved 4 A*s (Maths, chemistry, biology and physics), 6 As (English language, English literature, citizenship, catering, history, and PE) and a B (Further maths).
- Sara Beitlafteh, who achieved 6 A* (Maths, further Maths, biology, physics, Arabic and Persian), 3 As (Chemistry, citizenship and catering) and 3 Bs (English language, English literature and geography).
- Alex Corral Mena, who achieved 3 A* (Maths, Spanish and resistant materials), 6 As (English language and literature, Science core and additional, citizenship and further Maths) 1 B (Graphics) and 1 C (PE).
Commented Ellis:
“I’m really happy. I was confident that I would get the results I wanted but everything else has been a bonus. It’s been a good day!”
Sara Beitlafteh said:
“My results have made my family really proud! The A* in Further Maths is fantastic. I want to become a heart surgeon or cardiologist, with plans to study Medicine at university in the future.”
The results build on last week’s success, when the academy’s Sixth Form students recorded a 100% pass rate for the seventh successive year. An impressive 86.6% of entries achieved A* and A grades and all of the academy’s Year 13 students secured places in higher education, employment or training.
