Our school choir kicked off an afternoon of festive cheer with local primary schools at our annual Christmas Carol Concert.
A total of seven primaries joined us at St. Andrew’s Church in Eccles for the celebration, with choirs from Barton Moss, Beech Street, Christ Church, Godfrey Ermen, Lewis Street, St. Andrew’s and Westwood Park all singing to the sound of Christmas.
There wasn’t a spare seat in the building with parents from all schools coming to cheer on their children, with each school singing one song and then a student reading a passage from the Bible immediately after.
The celebration closed with a Christmas message from Reverend Jenny Lewis, followed by a Christmas medley where everyone joined in together; accompanied by the playing of the church’s magnificent live organ!
Once that finished, everybody enjoyed refreshments, including some lovingly-baked mince pies and Christmas biscuits made by our very own catering students that morning.
Salford City Academy Principal Ms Haselden, who compered the event, said: “It was amazing to see our whole community come together and celebrate Christmas in this magnificent venue.
“Thank you so much to all the primary schools who attended and our own students who worked so hard to put on a great show, and also to the staff at St. Andrew’s Church for hosting us – it was the perfect afternoon to get us into the festive spirit!”
