Primary pupils join in the festive fun at first ever Christmas Fayre
Salford City Academy showered the local community with festive spirit at its first ever Christmas Fayre, held on Thursday 10th December 2015.
Organised in partnership between the academy’s Student Council and transition team, the event proved a major hit, with students, parents and pupils from the local primary schools packing the Peel Green site.
Visitors to the fayre enjoyed a wide variety of festive activities, including Christmas gifts, face-painting, cake decorating, bric-a-brac and a raffle, with prizes donated by academy staff. The academy choir entertained the crowd with carols and festive tunes!
Santa also made a surprise stopover, with the younger visitors spending time visiting the grotto and receiving a Christmas gift.
There was also a raft of free glitter and glue arts and crafts, with visitors creating magic reindeer food, Christmas cookies and Santa faces to take home.
All proceeds from the fayre, currently £322.50, will be donated to local charities Salford Young Carers, The Salfordian and The Andrew Cooke Music Award and Memorial Trust, as chosen by Cllr. Peter Dobbs, The Right Worshipful the Ceremonial Mayor of the City of Salford, who attended alongside Consort Alan Davis and Claire McCourt.
Salford City Academy’s Principal Helen Mackenzie, OBE, said:
“It was fantastic to see our Student Council and Transition team’s hard work come together, with an excellent response from the local community, who we would like to thank for their support. It was such a success, we now plan to make it an annual event.”
