Salford City Academy celebrated World Book Day in style as the students and staff fully embraced a love of literature.
Year 7 and 8 joined staff in dressing up in literary-themed costume, with everything from Harry Potter and Where’s Wally to Alice In Wonderland seen on the corridors throughout the day. Millie in Year 7 was crowned fancy dress champion, winning a Kindle for her efforts as Little Red Riding Hood.
Ms Haselden took on the mantle of Matilda’s ‘The Trunchbull’ – even turning her office into the chokey! Elsewhere, Ms Wilcock built herself a Trojan horse costume – which she later admitted to ‘cobbling together the evening before’.
Students also took full advantage of an organised Book Swap in the canteen, with everyone getting the chance to bring in a used novel and exchange it for something new.
Literacy Co-ordinator Mrs Hawley said: “World Book Day is a fantastic reason to celebrate all things literary and it was great to see everyone in school fully involved in one way or another.
“The effort that went into the costumes is really something to be admired and really showed off the passion both our students and staff have for reading. We had a great day and can’t wait for World Book Day 2020 already!”
