Neighbouring Salford schools sing together at community PopUK concert.
On Tuesday 2nd June, Barton Moss Primary School, in partnership with Salford City Academy, invited parents to a PopUK concert, held at the Peel Green-based academy.
Barton Moss pupils were joined by Year 7 academy students to perform a number of songs and medleys at the event, sponsored by both Salford City Academy and the Eccles Rotary Club.
PopUK worked with Barton Moss pupils, teaching them some inspirational, modern songs.
Daryl Anns, Barton Moss Headteacher said:
“PopUK has been a fantastic experience for all of our pupils, staff, governors, parents and friends. We have really enjoyed coming together with Salford City Academy to present such an uplifting community concert. The songs have been such great fun to sing and have powerful messages that we can all to learn from.”
The actual concert was held in the academy's sports hall, with attendance from Barton Moss pupils and parents, as well as the actual Year 7 academy performers and members of the Eccles Rotary Club.
Salford City Academy Principal Helen Mackenzie OBE commented:
“This was a wonderful opportunity to not only bring the local community and our two schools together, but to also showcase just what our children can achieve.”
In the run-up to the event, PopUK founder and organiser Andy Silver and PopUK tutor Rachel Ortiz visited both schools to rehearse all the songs and record them for a specially created CD, available to parents and serving as a memento of the event and their child's part in it.
