Sport in Primaries

Sixth Form partner LLS and students delivering transition programme.

Salford City Academy place a huge amount of emphasis on our pastoral care, particularly within the area of Year 6 into 7 transition.  With this in mind, the academy is providing a transition programme via the medium of sport for a number of primary schools. We value the role that sport can play to aid transition due to its social, motivational and competitive elements. The transition programme is run in partnership with LLS who deliver a Sport Coach Education Programme as part of our Sixth Form provision. Primary schools involved have taken part in activities below during the last half term:

  • Westwood Park - have two sessions working across all ability levels.
  • St Andrews - receives an after school year 5 and 6 football programme.
  • Christchurch and Lewis Street - receiving Hockey and Handball sessions in line with Salford school’s tournaments.
  • Barton Moss - receives a variety of year 6 multi-sports including hockey as their second PE lesson.

Mrs. Whittington at St Andrews Primary School said: “The sessions are very popular with the pupils.”
