Year 7 careers event at Salford City Academy
On 4th May 2017, Year 7 took part in Greater Manchester Higher event – the STAR Workshop.
Aimed to introduce our Year 7 students to university life and learning opportunities, two graduate ambassadors led the session with a giant floorboard game!
Working in teams with a volunteer ‘counter piece’ player who navigated the board, students faced various university-themed challenges as they landed on spaces on the game from answering questions to playing charades.
The winning team enjoyed a graduation ceremony with their human ‘counter piece’ dressing up with the full cap and gown.
Amy Barlow, Head of Careers, said:
“The workshop gave an insight into university and initial information about courses on offer, universities in the local area, accommodation and learning pathways.
“The students had lots of fantastic questions for the graduate ambassadors as they were on quite different courses to become an architect and a doctor.”
