Salford City Academy were pleased to welcome back the Greater Manchester Police and Prison Service on Thursday 14th May.

Year 7 and 8 learnt about the world of law enforcement at the event, led by Paul McGovern MBE.

Students and staff participated in a range of discussions and activities centred on the impact of gang, drug and knife crime on young people.

Grace, Year 8, said:

“We heard real life stories of other children and the impact of their actions; the main message was that we should think before we act.”

Morgan, Year 8, said:

“We learnt that all actions have consequences and about personal safety too.”

There were some light-hearted games and demonstrations too, all with the underlying message that alcohol and drugs can seriously impair judgement.

Police dogs Charlotte and G also visited on the day to demonstrate the role of dogs in the police force.

Jordan, Year 7, said:

“The Police taught us that we’re in control of our own choices and how we live our lives; it’s up to us to make good choices.”
