The sun smiled down on SCA for our annual Sports Day.
There was a party atmosphere on the playing fields as the whole school came out for the afternoon, following long-distance running events that had taken place in the morning.
Year 10 students volunteered to help make the event a memorable one, by offering facepainting and glitter to an excited audience, while ice lollies and other refreshments were also on sale to keep everybody cool.
Students from all year groups competed against each other in the 100m, 200m, and 400m races on the track, while there were also javelin, long jump and shot putt taking place in the field events.
Gold Medals were presented to the winners of every competition in each year group, with runners up earning certificates. Meanwhile, staff rewarded students who displayed excellence and determination throughout the day with special wristbands.
Towards the end of the day, staff and students competed together in the three-legged race and the ‘dizzy dash’, which brought a hilarious end to an all-round brilliant day.
Head of PE Mr Morrison said: “Our Sports Day is an event that everyone in the school looks forward to and yet again it certainly didn’t disappoint. I am really proud of all of our students who displayed excellent sportsmanship, which contributed further to the overall feel-good factor of the day.”
Thank you in particular to our Sports Leaders who helped to run proceedings and to our Photography students who did a brilliant job of capturing everything that went on.”
