United Learning have toured 38 academies in 20 days to launch our group-wide competition for Year 9!
United Learning have kick started #UnitedApp2015 with a series of assemblies at all the academies. We had our visit on 7th October, where Year 9 students learnt all about the upcoming competition.
Jon Coles, United Learning Group Chief Executive said:
“We are very excited to launch our group wide App competition! We have partnered with www.7billionideas.com to promote entrepreneurial spirit across United Learning schools. As well as entrepreneurialism, the competition will teach students about true innovation, working together and introduce them to the world of coding.
7billionideas believes that there are 7 billion idea generators on the planet and it is their job to inspire each and every one of them. The competition is for year 9 students and will be kick started in October 2014 with 2 of the Founders of 7billionideas (including the CEO) visiting each school. Students will be invited to form think tanks of up to 4 and given the whole of November to come up with an idea for an educational App which could have a national or global impact. They will submit a 7 page workbook outlining their idea. The 10 shortlisted will present their ideas to our panel of judges and the winning App will be built by the think tank (with support!).
