Salford City Academy’s link with a far east football team has proved so successful that the group of under 12s has returned for the third time!
The youth squad made the return visit to the Academy on Wednesday 6th May.
The visit of the Thailand XI Under 12s Youth Squad was arranged by ‘Hero for Children Thailand’ - a football-based project, championed by Colonel Adulpakdee Maliphan and focused on helping children from Southern Thailand affected by war, violence, crime and drug issues.
Having already visited Salford City Academy on two previous occasions, this time around the group took part in a match against some of the Academy’s Year 7 and 8 students, before being treated to a traditional ‘Sunday lunch.’ They put their linguistic skills to the test with a short French lesson and were also given a tour of the Academy’s Art department.
Salford City Academy’s Principal Helen Mackenzie said:
“It is always a pleasure to welcome back our Thai colleagues. Not only is it an excellent way of developing overseas relations, but it also gives our students the opportunity to learn about life in other countries through the medium of football.”
