PZ Cussons help primary pupils make an early start at Salford City Academy
Salford City Academy joined forces with the makers of Imperial Leather, Carex and Sanctuary Spa - PZ Cussons this week to help primary school pupils work up a lather by giving them an early introduction to secondary education, with special new starter days.
Helping the primary school children to make the transition from primary to secondary school, the students worked with Salford City Academy’s Year 10 prefects and met their new mentors. The Academy hosted a range of introductory activities to help them hit the ground running when the new academic year starts in September.
Providing support at one of the starter days were representatives from PZ Cussons who worked with the current Year 6 primary pupils on science based projects which included; making their own bespoke shower gel and getting involved in ‘Carex Hands Up For Hygiene’ initiative, which teaches about proper hand washing routines.
Salford City Academy’s Principal Helen McKenzie, OBE, said:
“Our transition programme is designed to make the change from primary to secondary education as smooth as possible for both pupils and parents, helping to address any concerns or worries and enabling our new Year 7 students to adapt to their new environment more quickly.”
In addition to the introductory days, the Academy is also sending Year 7 students back to each of their former feeder primary schools to talk to the Year 6 pupils and answer any questions that they may have.
