Celebrating the love of books at Salford City Academy
The academy celebrated World Book Day in their specially decorated library on 3rd March 2016.
There were a variety of competitions and activities during break and lunch with an opportunity to win a range of prizes.
Students enjoyed word searches, puzzles, crosswords and many other activities linked to ell-known books such as The Hunger Games, Harry Potter, Horrid Henry, Dork Diaries and many more.
Winners:
- Mark Chilton – Year 8
- Cameron Hall – Year 9
- Ramiar Shafie – Year 9
There was also a quick-fire quiz about authors and books, with those putting up their hand and giving the correct answer first to questions winning bigger prizes!
Winners:
- Jenny McPhee – Year 9 won a signed Dr Who Book
- Jordan Beswick – Year 8 won an audio ‘Captain Underpants’ box set
Finally, we held a raffle for every student with a library pass at break entered.
Winners:
- Megan Dixon – Year 7 - £15 voucher
- Marium Jolloh – Year 7 - £10 voucher
All students were invited to collect a £1 book tokens to be exchanged for a free book at any well-known book store or used against a full-priced book of their choice. The academy library also offered a selection of free books.
