World Book Day at SCA
SCA buzzed with excitement and literary flair as students and teachers celebrated World Book Day with a range of activities designed to ignite a love for reading. SCA, nestled in the heart of our community, transformed into a literary wonderland, emphasising the importance of books and storytelling in education.
Staff arrived in the morning dressed as book characters, bringing to life the pages of beloved novels. From the whimsical Mad Hatter to the adventurous Gansta Granny, the corridors were teeming with creativity and imagination.
The day kicked off with The Masked Reader in form time, which hadd been taking place all week. Students had to guess who the memeber of staff was behind the mask whilst reading a passage form a book.
Reading Ambassadors and Student Librarians handed out free books and book tokens to their fellow students. The dining hall was a buzz of activity with a book themed menu and filled with quizes and wordsearches and more free books.
In addition to reading sessions, the school organised book discussions, where students shared their thoughts on their favorite novels and characters. It was a chance for young readers to connect over shared interests and explore diverse perspectives.
As the day came to a close, students took part in a treasure hunt in the library where they won books and sweet treats.
"We wanted to make World Book Day a celebration of imagination and discovery," said Ms. Hickey, the school librarian. "Reading opens doors to new worlds, and today, our students have embraced that spirit wholeheartedly."
World Book Day at SCA was a resounding success, showcasing the power of literature to inspire, educate, and unite. As students left for the day, many carried new books under their arms, eager to continue their literary adventures.
With a renewed passion for reading, the school looks forward to fostering a culture of storytelling and imagination throughout the year, ensuring that every day is a celebration of the written word.
