Teachers were excited to finally celebrate World Book Day in person, they have dusted off their best fancy dress to show students that they 'Are a Reader' and promote the love of reading once again in the academy.
Outfits ranged from Mary Poppins, Harry Potter, Nanny McPhee, Katniss Everdeen and many more.
Mrs Hickey our new Librarian also arranged a selection of acitivies in the library to celebrate the 25th Annual Book Day which included desiging a book mark, book bingo, map making and making your own book.
Mrs Hawley our Literacy lead held assemblies through the week explaining the importance of World book day and arranged a 'Guess the Shelfie' competition with students guessing who owns the bookcase in the picture based on the books they owned.
Here at SCA the love of reading is strongly promoted in everything we do, students read every morning for 20 minutes in our DEAR (Drop Everything and Read) sessions as a collective group. Reading for just 20 minutes is proven to make a crucial difference to your childs future success, not only that who doesn't love to get lost into another world of imagination.
A huge thank you to all the staff involved.
